Connection Between Your Feet and Back Pain
Our world has evolved much faster than our bodies. Humans are not designed to walk on hard surfaces like concrete, wood, etc. Instead, our feet and bodies are built for walking on softer natural terrain, like dirt and grass. Unfortunately, most of us can’t spend our days barefoot in the grass.
Your feet, knees and lower back act as your body’s natural shock absorbers. When your feet aren’t properly supported either by the ground or a good pair of shoes, they are not able to absorb shock like they are meant to. This causes the knees to work harder, and eventually, your lower back ends up taking the heat.
What You Can Do
While you may not be able to spend your days with your toes in the grass or on the beach, there are a few things you can do to help make sure your feet don’t cause back pain:
- Wear sneakers or shoes that are well-designed to support your foot and absorb shock.
